Classic Rock bVII (I–V–bVII–IV)
Rock4/46 views
A close relative of the I–V–vi–IV, but replacing the relative minor with the flat-seven chord for a more rocking, less sentimental feel. In D major: D–A–C–G. Used in arena rock and classic rock constantly. The C chord (bVII) adds that raw, rootsy quality characteristic of 1970s and 80s rock.
